Website Redesign
view the figma file

MirimGene aimed to create a more professional, scientifically credible website that aligned with their brand identity.

PROJECT DETAILS

MirimGene is a developer of immunity drugs focused on personalized precision medicine for treating infectious diseases. Initially, I assisted with designing small graphics and their homepage, which led to a contract role where I was tasked with redesigning their entire website to enhance its professionalism and scientific credibility. I also developed branded slide decks to align with their sleek aesthetic. A key challenge was incorporating MirimGene’s bright pink and purple brand colours into a design that remained clean, professional, and focused on delivering critical information. Throughout the project, I collaborated closely with the CEO, the CEO’s assistant and researcher, two developers, and another UX/UI designer.

Competitive research and user interface principles guided the design, balancing MirimGene’s vibrant colours with a professional, accessible look, ensuring credibility while also adhering to WCAG accessibility standards.

Create a professional, accessible website that integrates MirimGene’s vibrant brand identity while instilling scientific credibility.

GOAL NUMBER 01

Create a website that reflects MirimGene’s scientific expertise and instills confidence in visitors.

GOAL NUMBER 02

Incorporate bright brand colours into the design while maintaining a sophisticated and professional appearance.

GOAL NUMBER 03

Design an accessible, user-friendly website that adheres to WCAG guidelines for inclusivity.

MY APPROACH

Conducted competitive analysis, used bright brand colours as accents, created a minimalistic design for clarity, ensured for easy content updates, and selected a clean sans-serif font to convey a professional, medical tone.

MY APPROACH

To begin, my design partner and I conducted extensive competitive analysis, examining the websites of MirimGene’s competitors. We found that while the content was similar across the board, many of these sites presented their information in a more clean and sophisticated manner, which we aimed to emulate.

MirimGene’s team was clear that the bright pink and purple colours from their branding and logo had to be incorporated into the design. This posed a challenge, as these vibrant colours naturally convey a fun and joyful tone, which doesn’t always align with the serious nature of their work in developing cures for diseases like sepsis. To address this, we opted to use these colours as accents rather than dominant elements, allowing the seriousness of the content to remain the focus. The design was kept minimalistic to ensure that essential information was clearly communicated.

For the administrative side, it was crucial to create a design that was simple and effective, allowing easy updates for content such as news articles, publications, and blog posts. We aimed for a clean and straightforward interface that could handle new content seamlessly.

Finally, we chose a modern, clean sans-serif font to reinforce the medical and scientific tone of the site, ensuring that the overall design was both professional and aligned with MirimGene’s goals.
